Why I'm Starting This Blog (and What to Expect)

Personal

My name is Ollie — I'm 17, a sixth-form student at the University of Liverpool Maths School, and from the age of about 6 I've been solving complex problems, mostly using programming as an outlet. Over the years I've built apps, AI tools, websites (even Minecraft mods way back then), and a healthy obsession with figuring out how things work.

So why am I starting a blog?

Because I've realised it's no good doing this alone. I don't want to just build — I want to build in public. I want to share what I'm working on, what I'm learning, what I get wrong, what works really well. This blog is my space to document that journey — not just for publicity or content, but because it helps me reflect and to think.

What I'll Write about

Don't think this will be a place for generic React tutorials you can find elsewhere. Instead, expect impactful posts that leave you thinking, like:

  • Behind-the-scenes breakdowns of projects I'm working on.
  • My thoughts on tech, education, and startups — especially from the perspective of someone still in school.
  • Things I've learned (or am still figuring out) in web dev, AI, and the startup space.
  • Occasional rants when I hit a frustrating problem and have to code my way out.

Why now?

I'm currently looking for work, and increasing my online presence seemed like a good way to attract attention. That being said, if you have an interesting project you would like to discuss, please contact me.

Also, in a few months, I'll be applying to University: Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI... This blog is part of that story, but also much more than that. It's a way for me to put my thoughts into the world and maybe connect with people who care about the same stuff I do.

If that sounds like you, please reach out. Check me out on LinkedIn. Connect with me. Drop me a message, I'll respond.

Please look out for more of these posts. I'll be adding a mailing list soon, so you'll be the first to know when I make a new post.
